Château parc de Meung sur Loire
Château de Meung is one of the largest and oldest châteaux in the Loiret region.
Until the French Revolution, it was the prestigious residence of the bishops of Orléans and played host to some of the greatest names in French history.
It all began with the 1st castle, which served as the setting for the 861 treaty between Robert the Strong and King Charles the Bald, marking the beginning of the rise of the Capetian dynasty.
Meung castle was also a strategic location in the conflict between the English and the French during the Hundred Years' War: Joan of Arc delivered it after her victory at Orléans.
Many kings stopped here, including François I and Louis XI.
It had its moments of glory, particularly on the eve of the French Revolution, when the bishop of Orléans, Jarente de la Bruyère, invested his entire fortune here to recreate a little Versailles.
The château also has its dark side: it was used as a prison. Its most famous prisoner was the poet François Villon.
Purchased during the Revolution by one of the founders of the Banque de France, Château de Meung has been a private residence open to visitors for some years now.

The Land of Dragons
The legend of the Holy Dragon Slayers is at the heart of the history of Meung sur Loire and its castle. La Terre de Dragons is an outdoor installation where you can discover a bestiary of fantastic animatronics created especially for Meung Castle and dedicated to these mythical creatures. From the tiniest vulture to the giant 14-metre basilisk, there's a dragon for everyone!
The Knights' Trail
Are you a true Knight? It's time to test your mettle! The Parcours des Chevaliers, with its 3 suspended nets, will let you move freely in the middle of the forest on these giant trampolines. 6 agility workshops complete this extraordinary course, with parents looking on in admiration!
Closed shoes must be worn. We advise you to wear trousers and long sleeves.
Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult on the course.

The Dragon's lair
Not for the faint-hearted: the Dragon of St Liphard is in the castle! In the depths of the underground passages, not far from the dungeons, an impressive dragon is watching you! Will you be brave enough to go and meet it?
The Minimes farm
Discover the educational farm made up of miniature animals including Toy goats, donkeys, sheep and chickens, which have taken up residence on the site of the castle's former farmyard. What a pleasure for our little visitors to discover farm animals in such an exceptional setting!
